OpenMind began with a question that had nothing to do with commerce: could software get a child in a classroom in Latin America to read more? In 2016 we built Moi to find out — a multilingual learning platform designed for schools without reliable internet or modern devices.
It worked. Moi reached more than 40,000 children and 2,500 educators, and was recognised by StartUp Chile, Seedstars, the Serious Play Conference and Holon IQ. What we learned building it is the thing we still sell: making software that changes what people actually do takes a particular kind of care, and that care is the difference between a platform that gets used and one that gets launched.

What we do now
The same discipline, applied to commercial platforms. Most of our clients are established businesses with something valuable that has become slow, expensive or hard to change — and they want it fixed without betting the company on a rewrite.
There are three ways that usually looks. Most engagements start with one and grow into another once the first one has paid for itself.
How we work
We keep the engagements small enough to be accountable and long enough to be useful. Three principles decide most of what we do.
- We run what we ship. We don't hand over and disappear. We operate, measure and evolve the platforms we build, which is why we're careful about what we put in them. The incentives point the right way.
- We measure outcomes, not deliverables. A launch is not a result. We agree what success looks like in numbers — traffic, conversion, cost, time saved — and we report against it.
- We keep the code that pays the bills. Rewriting a working system is usually the most expensive way to solve a problem. Most of what we do is decoupling, modernising and extending — not starting again.
What we’re genuinely good at
We are engineers first. The work we’re proudest of is the work nobody notices — pages that load before you expect them to, a migration that doesn’t cost you your rankings, a platform that still runs unattended two years later.
We’re also honest about the other side of that: we are not a brand or campaign agency. When a project needs that, we work alongside the studio that does it, which is how several of our longest partnerships started.
